I am very excited about this race. It starts off with a hilly time trial and the rest of the stages are pretty challenging. Each stage has a variety of different climbs with many category 1's thrown in. In years past, it sounds like each stage does not end in a mass pack sprint. Breakaways on the hills will be key to our success. From what I hear, the weather can vary day to day. It can be sunny and nice one day and rainy and windy the next.
We have been in contact with the race director and the owner of the lodge, where the racers will be staying. We can already tell they are very excited to host the race. The Irish hospitality is already evident to us. For example, Paul the lodge owner will be picking Stephen and me up at a bus station that is about an hour away from him. Stephen and I will be getting there a few days early. Marcus, Jackson and Craig will be coming in the day before from Switzerland.
We are really looking forward to this race. Look for race updates in July.
