"Brutal" Tour de Nez

It was windy, hot, dry, at altitude, and just plain brutal… I have been doing this race religiously since 1995, and this one was the most difficult. From start to finish this was an active race. We made our presence known by attacking, covering breaks, bridging, and chasing. We were “firing on all cylinders”. Going into the final half of the race Jeff, Larry, Dave, and I were in the winning break. Dave got caught behind a crash that dropped him back to the field. We could have lost Larry, but even after his second meeting with the pavement this F-Truk toughed it out.

In the end, Jeff prevailed and scored a cherished “home town” victory.

CONGRATULATIONS JEFF!!!

Podium:
1st Jeff Angermann, AMD-Discovery Channel Masters, 2nd Dirk Copeland, and 3rd Mark Noble

Congrats to Angermanners! He doesn't have the prettiest sprint but it sure gets the job done.

Larry, hope you're not too badly scraped up.

Where did the pics come from? Are there more? Could you share the source?

Taitt said she had fun spectating... and got to tour the course on the back of an official's motorcycle.

Dan,

It didn't look pretty 'cause it's a very awkward sprint- full speed out of the chicane takes you right into the barriers and you have to correct at the last second in order to avoid going down. I was also spun out, FWIW...

I'll do my best to clean it up for your viewing pleasure next time ;)

They're not the best, but it's nice to have some shots from a great race. Enjoy!

Larry - hope you are healing up okay. We missed watching you race the Nevada City Classic yesterday, but saw your bandages and figured something must've happened the day before. Hope all is well. Heal fast!!

Jeff,

Good work you rawked it. I made a skin deposit myself that makes Larry's double dip look rather modest.

Stupid bike racing.

And I agonized for you at NCC yesterday... saw your butt check where you got gapped and counted the seconds as they ticked by wheile you got that chain back on... ugh.
