Plans? We talked a bit last week about showing up to every workout with a plan. Did you want to do 30 sprints like we did last week? Will that help you reach your goals?

Modifiers- as always, you can go longer, go shorter, add more or do less. You can lead or draft. You can work on your jump or you can start your sprint from a higher speed. We’re flexible out there cuz none of us sprint the same or need the same workout to achieve our goals, right?

May 1 plans-
- 2 technique sprints as usual for a warm-up
- 5 headwind sprints, sprinting every lap
- 1 lap recovery
- 3 lap slow and tight pack riding (8mph- elbow to elbow, shoulder to shoulder, bumping each other)
- 5 tailwind sprints, sprinting every lap

Thanks for the updates Ziggy and Taitt. I am so sorry that this happened. One minute we are basking in our pride of popping off ten headwind sprint efforts and the next we are humbled to learn just how fragile we are.

I hope and pray for a speedy and full recovery for Dan. None of us wanted that to happen. While Dan took a heck of a blow to his head it was great to see his sense of humor come back so quickly. I doubt that he will remember that he was in Florida when we asked him where we were, but that's not a bad place to visit.

Yes, we will encourage and talk to riders about safety and differences in speed, but we're also reminded that we are practicing to be fully aware of our surroundings. Sprinting is dangerous but accidents can be prevented.

Hi guys,

I've forwarded a message from Taitt regarding Dan's condition. It looks like he got banged up pretty good; the grunting dan was doing when he was on the ground was, as we suspected, the result of a collapsed lung. He's staying at Eden, not sure if he's taking visitors as he'll likely be pretty doped up for a couple of days.

It's terrible to see training go so bad, and I hope this doesn't scare folks off from the sprint series as the turnout is better than I've ever seen it. Perhaps in the future we'll have to make a rule or two regarding slower / recovering riders and their position on the road, similar to the rules of the apron on the track.

Be safe,
-Ziggy

Hi Brian, thanks so much for your help with the car and Dan's stuff tonight. Here's the damage: broken collarbone, 4-5 busted ribs, forehead stitches, concussion and a tube for the hole in one of his lungs. Looks like I'll be playing nurse for a while after he gets back from the hospital (in 3-5 days, they say). At least there's not much road rash!

Talk to you later and thanks again.
